GEO has a reputation for being expensive: monitoring tools, consultants, audits.
The truth is different: the first weeks of work can be done entirely with free tools.
In this list are the 10 we actually use, organized according to the phases of our method to position yourself in AI: diagnosis, fundamentals, authority, and measurement.
And for each one, we tell you what almost no one clarifies: where free ends.
How we chose these tools (methodology)
Three criteria to make the list:
- Truly free: permanent free plan or 100% free tool. 7-day trials with a credit card do not count.
- Useful for GEO: solves a specific visibility task in AI, not marketing in general.
- Proven by us: we use them in our own work or with clients.

Phase 1: Diagnosis (Do AIs mention you?)
1. The AIs themselves: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity (free plans)
The most underestimated tool is AI itself. The free plans of ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are enough for a serious manual audit.
Run your 10 business questions on each one and note: do you appear?, in what position?, what do they say about you?, who else do they mention?
The pro trick: also ask «what are the disadvantages of [tu marca]?». The answer shows you what negative sources the AI is reading.
The free stuff: everything you need to audit. The limit: doing it manually on 4 platforms, several times a week, becomes a full-time job.
We have the step by step on how to analyze your visibility in ChatGPT for free.
2. AI Search Grader (HubSpot)
Free tool from HubSpot that generates a visibility score of your brand in AI engines, with a summary of how you are described and against whom you appear.
Useful as a quick second opinion of the diagnosis, and to have a number to show in a meeting.
Free: the full report. The limit: is designed in English, so for brands selling in Spanish, the results should be taken as an approximation.

Phase 2: Fundamentals (your site, visible to AI)
3. Google Search Console
The most important free tool on this list, even though it doesn’t say «AI» anywhere.
Why? Because 76% of the citations in AI Overviews come from the top 10 of Google. Search Console tells you exactly where you rank and which pages have the potential to enter that top 10.
Free: everything, forever. The limit: does not separate clicks from AI Overviews from normal organic clicks.
4. Bing Webmaster Tools
The great forgotten of SEO, and for GEO it’s half a ticket: ChatGPT searches using Bing’s index.
If your site is not well indexed in Bing, for ChatGPT with browsing it’s as if you don’t exist.
Registering it takes minutes: you can import your settings from Search Console with one click. Bonus: it supports IndexNow, which instantly notifies Bing when you publish or update content.
Free: everything, including a built-in keyword tool. The limit: less data volume and a worse interface than Search Console.

5. Screaming Frog (free version)
The classic of technical SEO, free for up to 500 URLs: enough for most SME sites.
It shows you in minutes what AI sees from your site: broken URLs, duplicate titles, unindexed pages, and content that only exists in JavaScript (invisible to many AI bots).
The free part: full crawling for up to 500 URLs. The limit: large sites or advanced features require a license.
6. Schema Validator + Rich Results Test
Two official free tools to check your structured data: the Schema.org validator and Google’s rich results test.
Structured data (Article, FAQPage, Organization) is one of the few «technical for AI» aspects that Google confirmed matters. A broken or outdated schema spreads old information about your business.
The free part: everything. The limit: they validate what exists; writing the correct schema is still your job.
7. llms.txt Generator
There are several free generators that create your llms.txt file in minutes from your sitemap.
Expectations in check: today almost no bot reads llms.txt and Google confirmed it doesn’t use it. But creating it takes 10 minutes, the risk is zero, and you’re ready if the standard takes off.
The free part: the complete file. The limit: the standard itself, not the tool.
Phase 3: Authority (what questions to answer and where to sound)
8. Qforia (iPullRank)
Free tool that simulates the query fan-out of Google: you give it a search and it returns the sub-queries that the system probably generates behind the scenes.
It’s gold for creating citable content: pages that answer multiple sub-queries at once have a 161% higher chance of being cited in AI Overviews.
A heads up before you enter: it’s going to ask you for a Gemini API key. Sounds technical, but it’s free and takes 2 minutes: you go to Google AI Studio with your Google account, click «Get API key», copy and paste. No card required.
The free part: generating fan-out queries. The limit: it’s an educated simulation, not Google’s internal data.

9. AlsoAsked
It shows you the tree of real questions that people ask on Google around a topic («people also ask»), in Spanish and by country.
Each branch of the tree is a candidate for H2, for FAQ, or for prompts to monitor. Questions trigger AI responses twice as much as normal searches.
The free part: 3 searches per day without registration. The limit: for intensive research it runs out quickly.
Phase 4: Measurement (how much do AIs bring you?)
10. Google Analytics (with the AI Traffic channel)
Google Analytics is free and, if set up correctly, shows you how many visits are sent by ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity and what they do on your site.
Since May 2026, it includes the «AI Assistant» channel, but it falls short: it mixes all AIs into a single number.
The good setup takes 30 minutes and you can find it in our guide to measure traffic from AIs, with the list of domains to copy.
The free part: everything. The limit: only sees 30-40% of the traffic influenced by AI; the rest comes without a referrer.
The complete table
| Tool | What you use it for | Where the free part ends |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | Manual audit and sentiment | The time it takes you to do it manually |
| AI Search Grader | Quick visibility score in AI | Thought in English |
| Google Search Console | Reach the top 10 (the entry passage) | Does not separate AI Overviews from organic |
| Bing Webmaster Tools | Exist for ChatGPT (uses Bing’s index) | Less data than Search Console |
| Screaming Frog | Technical site audit | 500 URLs |
| Schema Validator | Structured data without errors | Valid, does not write |
| llms.txt Generator | Create the file in 10 minutes | The standard is still hardly used |
| Qforia | Sub-queries of the query fan-out | Simulation, not Google data |
| AlsoAsked | Real questions from your audience | 3 searches per day |
| Google Analytics | Measure the traffic that AI sends you | Only see 30-40% of real AI traffic |
The real limit of free (and when to make the leap)
Look at the right column of the table and you will see the pattern: all free tools share the same ceiling.
They are snapshot photos and manual work. None alerts you when your competitor pushes you out of the answers, nor shows you the trend week by week.
And AI answers change between runs: a single query is not data, it’s an anecdote.
The practical rule: use the free stack for diagnosis and fundamentals (phases 1 and 2). When GEO moves from experiment to channel, continuous monitoring is no longer optional: measuring 4 LLMs by hand, several times a week, costs more in hours than any tool.
What about CreceRank? Let’s be clear
CreceRank does exactly what the free stack does not cover: it runs your prompts every day on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, with position, sentiment, and comparison against competitors.
It’s not 100% free, and that’s why it’s not on the list. What it does have is a 14-day trial, no credit card required, to try it without commitment.
Do you need it and the budget doesn’t allow? Message me on WhatsApp and I’ll give you a free account.

No bots or forms: I respond myself, Sebastián, co-founder of CreceRank.
And if you prefer to try it on your own first: 14-day trial, no card or commitment required.
Conclusion
What are the best free GEO tools? The 10 on this list cover the complete cycle: diagnose, prepare your site, find the right questions, and measure results.
Our recommendation in three lines:
- Start today with the free diagnosis: your 10 business questions in each AI + the AI Search Grader. In an afternoon, you’ll know where you stand.
- Invest the first week in fundamentals: Search Console, Screaming Frog, and the schema validator tell you what to fix before creating content.
- Switch to continuous monitoring when there’s business at stake: the free tools diagnose; the constant monitoring tells you if you’re winning.
